On Saturday morning when I arrived for the test day the weather didn't look very clever.
But in the morning the track dried out and I was putting some good times against other super-teen riders which gave me a bit more confidence into Sunday’s race.
Sunday morning came and it was wet, windy and cold.
Not ideal for my first ever race but I accepted I had to adapt to different conditions.
I went out at 0930 for a ten minute warm up then I set off for qualifying at 1045.
Out of 43 lads I qualified 27th in the wet which I was more than happy with and I was position 24 on the grid.
I felt very nervous on the start line and my heart was pounding but I got a decent start but dropped back quite considerably into the first corner but I took the outside line and overtook 4 people within a matter of seconds which put me back on track.
At the end of the race I finished 17th which was outstanding for me seeing as I’ve never raced a bike. In the last race I was on the second row of the grid, position 7.
On the start line I didn't get a good start - I was clipped by another rider which made me stall the bike then I was hit from the right, then to top it all I was smashed from the rear which sent me flying but unhurt.
My bike however is damaged but it'll be fixed ready for Oulton Park where I hope to improve once again in my racing.
Thanks Ben
