MRO Cadwell Park

2001 Season

Rider : Alan Tanton                         Mechanics : Trevor Tanton & Ian Robinson

Alan is 26 years old and hails from East Yorkshire, he started racing in 1996 on a 1989 Suzuki RGV 250 in Supersport 400 at Club level, achieving regular top 3 places on an unreliable and non competitive bike.

The following year Alan then moved onto riding a new Honda CB500 in a one make challenge at National Level, finishing in the points before having a bad crash at Oulton Park  half way through  the season and missed the remainder of the season.

Alan stayed with the CB500 for a second season with better success finishing mostly inside the top ten places and only one DNF all season. Alan finished the season in 10th place.

In 1999 Alan rode a Yamaha R6 in the British Sports Production for the first four rounds finishing every round in the points with a best finish of ninth at Cadwell Park, thirteenth at Mallory Park and two tenth places at Donington Park. Leaving him ninth in the Championship before his main sponsors pulled out leaving Alan unable to finish the season.

For the 2000 season Alan competed in the ACU/MRO National Championship in the Supersport 600 Class and the Auto 66 Championship in the Supersport 600, the Open Class and the Senior Clubmans Cup all on a three year old CBR600.

In the MRO National Championship Alan has finished with a 26th place at Snetterton and a 33rd and 26th places at Donington Park but with insufficient funds Alan concentrated on the Auto 66 Championships.

Alan won the Supersport 600 Championship and the two main classes the Senior Clubmans Cup and the 1300cc Open Class to complete a hat trick of Championships.

In 2001 Alan raced the Honda for a second season finishing 2nd in the 600 clubmans challenge, 2nd in the 1300 clubmans challenge, 2nd in the 600 open clubmans cup and 3rd in the 1300 senior clubmans cup competing in the Auto 66 championships. Despite breaking his wrists just before the start of the season.

For 2002 Alan is hoping to compete again (and retake the championship) in the Auto66 clubmans cup championship's including rounds at Olivers Mount in Scarborough and hopeful a few rounds of the MRO national championship's, If he can secure enough funds. At present Alan has not secured a bike for the coming season so if there is any one out there with a redundant 600+ cc bike or even a 250 GP spec machine going spare give him a call.
