Andrew is now part of the team and we welcome him on board for the 20001 season.
He has a couple of different bikes lined up for next season so we will be keeping you up to date as the season approaches.
Andrew is 33 years old and has been racing since 1992 starting his racing career on a 250 Suzuki, he has since progressed though Single Cylinder BEMSE Championships in 1993 coming fourth to second place in 1994 NGMCC Single Cylinder Champions with his first outing at the Isle of Man TT in 1995. In 1997 Andrew came over to Northern Ireland to compete in the Ulster Grand Prix on a TZ250 whilst also racing in National road racing and short circuits, with a personal best in the 1999 TT of 7th place on a 660 XTZ single cylinder and a 101mph fastest lap.
When not running his own business "Ultimate Bike Paint", based in Bristol he can usually be found at the weekly MAG meeting on a Thursday night in the Coach and Horses , in Bristol. With MAG in Bristol organising the Bristol Bike Show, a major event with the Local Authority.
Andrews entry to the 2000 TT was, as usual, a frantic and busy affair ensuring that both the Yamaha TZ250 and Yamaha XTZ660 racers were both prepared and ready for action. Preparation began back in December 99 with both bikes being stripped and engines rebuilt in readiness.
Andrew says " On arrival at the IOM the weather looked good for the start of practice week. By Monday's practice session I had achieved third fastest on the single and by the end of practice week, and seven laps later, I achieved an average speed of 100.49mph"
"Practice on my TZ250 proved a little more testing with handling problems at the start of practice week. Although resolved by Wednesday, bad weather conditions, mainly mist on the mountain, hindered practice. By last practice my average speed was 102.57 and my TZ had developed a slight misfire which had to be resolved by race week.
With all problems sorted my first race on the TZ250 was delayed four hours due to more mist and rain on the mountain. After much waiting around the race finally got of to a good start but on the first lap my bike suffered an engine seizure due to ignition failure resulting in an early retirement, much to my and my pit crew's disappointment."
"My second race on the Wednesday got started on time and went well for the first 2 1/2 laps of the 4 lap race. In fifth position and with a best average lap of 104 mph the crank cases fractured at the end of the Cronk-y-Voddy straight and with a spectacular stop from over 100mph, my chances of fourth position rapidly dwindled,
Whilst an overall disappointing TT, with both my sponsors Bike Care of Bristol and Action Motorcycles of South Birminghan, I intend to return for a fifth time to the IOM in 2001."
"In the meantime I will have raced at the Aberdare National Road Race in South Wales in July. I will also be competing at the National Celtic Match Races in South Wales in September and participating in various North Gloucestershire and New Era race meetings at various circuits for the rest of this season."
