Duncan Baillie from Scotland is MAG Sport Racing and MAGs Sponsorship fund rider at the 2002 TT Races on the Isle of Man.

The sponsorship fund is in memory of Joey Dunlop and is awarded each year to a MAG member who is racing as a newcomer.

We will be bring you articles and reports on Duncan's progress at the TT.

I have been a MAG member for the last 4 years.

I have had a road bike since I was 17 and currently have a Ducati 900ss (which my wife pinched to have an article in Streetbiker last year).

My racing career started in 1999 on a TZR 250, in the Scottish Championship and I continued on this machine through 2000. Although greatly underpowered I feel I achieved some great experiences and became thoroughly bitten by road racing.

I bought an ex. Nick Jefferies FZR 400 RR SP at the start of the 2001 season and I had some great racing both in Scotland and in England, earning three tropies in the process.

This season I am in the Auto 66 championship, NEMCRC and Melville Championships.

I am also a Road Racer and have a huge admiration for Joey Dunlop's achievements, both on and off the track. If I can aspire to obtaining even a fraction of the excellence that he had, I will have obtained a lifetimes ambition.

I will also be going to the TT for the first time, to race in the Lightweight 400 class.

To me the TT is ultimate road racing. A test of the maximum ability of rider and machine on REAL roads in REAL conditions.

Like any road race, I will be going the The Isle Of Man to give it everything I've got, but equally as important, I am going to enjoy road racing at its finest.

Its perhaps unrealistic to expect a high placing on my first TT but an award with as prestigious a name as this one would be as good as a win on my first TT.
