Testing at Mallory

Just to let you know how thing's are going.  The bikes back together after the Brands crash and we've just got back from a testing session at Mallory and a very sucessful one at that.

We did some playing with suspension and sprocket settings and found a good setup for Mallory.

Unfortunately we need to drop to a 46 tooth sprocket but we didn't have one with us so we couldn't get a perfect setup.

Anyway the rain held off and James managed just under 50 Laps on his 3, 20 minute sessions.  Most of the lap times were in the 55 second range with some in the 54's.  His best of the day was 54.35 over 1.5 seconds faster than he ever manged on his old CBR600.

Things look good for when we've got the right sprockets fitted.

As long as work doesn't get in the way we should be at Brands Hatch on 8th, 9th & 10th March for practice and racing.

Brands Hatch 1 James Clamp 0

Not an auspicious start to the season.

We arrived at Brands at 7am and it was raining and continued to do so on and off for the next two hours.  So it was on to an unfamiliar track with an unfamiliar bike on wets...great.

The first session went really well with only one gear change mistake (James was using reversed gear sequence for the first time).

In James' next session the rain was abating and he was really getting his lap times down, he'd just put in a 61 second lap and sat up to brake for Paddock Hill Bend when the front end went. James was doing well over 100mph and hit the gravel trap in a shower of kitty litter. James was OK, only a small graze on his elbow but the bike didn't fair too well. The fairing, end can, right hand handle bar and the front brake lever were all trashed, he also has an extra vent hole in his leathers now.

We haven't built up a spares package yet so it was an early bath for us.  Ah well that's racing I suppose, we'll be out of action for a while now as we recover from this.

James was supposed to practice Mallory on 30/1/02 but we won't be ready.
