Many words and tributes have been written about Joey and this poem is a fitting tribute from Belfast man Eric Smith.
Forever King of the Road"
His life was rich but humble He gave us so much pleasure His skills upon a Honda Were impossible to measure
North-West, Dundrod, the Isle of Man Of these he was the master And every year surprised us all By going even faster
He raced the roads of Ulster For thirty one fond years His safety was impeccable Twisting throttles, shifting gears
So dedicated to his sport This quiet friendly man His attributes uncountable Replace him no one can
While others fussed and struggled Your man rode calm and cool An example to all bikers Keep your head his golden rule
We'll always remember you Joey As a loving and caring chap And wave our programmes wildly In our memories lap by lap
Farewell our famous champion May you in peace forever rest North-West, Dundrod, the Isle of Man Our Joey will always be best…… Eric Smith
