Mick Boddice Training School May 31st 2000

May 31st and four days before my next outing at Croft, my Dad had booked me into the Mick Boddice Training School at Darley Moor.

This proved to be excellent value for money as I was taught how braking at the right time would improve my cornering, as well as learning the ins and outs of counter steering.

By the end of the day I was managing to push lap times that were as fast as any I had at last year's race, the instructors were well impressed as to how fast I had put into practice what I was taught.

An added bonus was that Sky T V was filming there and they interviewed me as a result.

Croft June 4th 2000

We made our way to Croft for the Friday's test day my times improved thought out the day as I got to know the circuit, and we were on a high looking forward to the rest of the weekend.

Saturdays qualifying was a complete washout, with torrential rain for most of the day.

When we did manage to get out on track the bike broke down when water found it's way into the electric's, as a result of this I had not qualified for the race, when we explained the situation to the officials they said that I could start at the back of the grid.

Race day was eventually cancelled after several postponements as due to the bad weather floods had cut off the access to the local hospitals!

The races will be run at a later date at Cadwell as an extra race.

Snetterton June 24th- 25th 2000

Free practice on Saturday morning went ok. I was just trying to learn the circuit and making sure we had the right gearing, my best time was a 1.min 44 sec.

In qualifying I improved my lap times by 4 seconds a lap and was disappointed to find that I was at the back of the grid.

The race was brilliant I made a mistake at the start and lost the tow off a faster group, but I still managed to fight my way up to 28th out of 36, with a best lap of a 1min36.

Also for the first time I used some ear plugs which has made a surprising difference and we are now using a pit board so I know from the pit signals what is going on around me which is a big help.
