Snetterton May Rounds 7&8

pic by BKVP Woke Saturday morning to sunshine, what a nice change. This was a test day, a chance to see how the new engine will go. I hadn't ridden for a month, but straight away I went quicker, the bike seemed so much faster. The aim was to get down to 1.20 laps before days end. This was achieved before the last session. The gearbox had started to jump out of gear, but we put that down to the different box.

Sunday race day started a bit gloomy and showery, but dried up. First race went well, getting down to 1.19 laps, but gearbox getting worse. Dad checked selectors etc, but nothing obviously wrong, so put it back together, adjusted chain and waited for next race.

Second race saw gearbox become unridable, and I pulled in on penultimate lap.Dad spent rest of day fitting spare engine

Monday race day was again a bit damp but got better. First race saw bike noticeably slower and unbelievably I got black flagged for smoke from bike. Turned out to be a gasket given out. Dad saw to that and spent an hour cleaning up bike for re-scrutineering. Went out in next race, working up to about 16th place before black flag came out again. Turned out to be oil in place difficult to clean. That was the end to a diabolical weekend.Dad is now sorting out gearbox, and we will test at Mallory.

The frustrating thing is, I new I could get down to 1.17 laps, which would have put me in the top 10.

Rockingham is next if it is not cancelled. Hopefully things will be much better next time out.

All the best till next time, Tim.
