Brands Hatch Saturday 11th May
I entered clubman again this weekend and had two races on Saturday. I had good results again as I got 7th in the first race and 6th in the second. My times came down from 57's last year to 53's which is not bad. Dad said he wanted me to get down to 52's this weekend. We had set the suspension up according to Nick at KAIS and the bike did feel better, though the tyres still tore up badly. We used all our part worns up so had to fit a new rear. This time we put a Rennsport on and scrubbed it in during the Supersport race i did for track time. The difference was amazing. We got 5 races out of 1 tyre and there is still life in it yet. We seemed to have found a good setup at last.
Sunday 12th May
The weather was wet first thing and the first race was a bit disappointing. I only managed a 10th and was very disappointed. This put me 10th on the grid for the 2nd race. A good start saw me in the top 6 after the first corner. A race long battle with an old adversary saw me finish 6th just ahead of him. A pretty good set of results after all which puts me 10th in the Championship.
A friend of Dads paid for me to enter the Champion of Brands race and i had to start from 24th on the grid. I had a fantastic race and came home 17th against R1's, GSXR 1000's and 250 GP bikes so I was quite pleased with myself. I had some very good battles with some of the other riders including Ian Hickey, the guy who re-built my engine. The best thing was i was doing consistent 51 second laps. The bike is going in to Dave Hammond now to clean up the bottom end and midrange to give me more drive from the turns. This should bring that elusive win.
I really enjoyed myself this weekend and can't wait until Lydden at the end of the month which is an MRO round and is televised so I hope I qualify.
Good Luck, Tim # 76 & Darren
