Snetterton March 16/3/02
We woke Saturday morning to drizzle. Tim was not concerned as he likes the wet and he was trying the new Metzeler Rain tyre.
Practice was 3 laps as usual but Tim felt confident on the new tyres. When we checked the grids for the first race we got a surprise. Tim was number three on the grid. He must have made a good impression on the club last season.
Tim got the holeshot with a cracking start and led into the first turn. He dropped to 4th down Revitt due to a lack of speed but held station for 5 laps. Just as his times started to come down he had a massive slide at the Bombhole. He recovered to finish 8th. Not bad considering. Still, not a bad start to the season.
Tim eagerly awaited the second race, determined to get back to the top.
However, on the second lap he hit a false neutral and could not find a gear. He managed to limp back to the pits, very uptight as you can imagine. Upon investigation, third gear pinion had shattered. We now have to try to find the parts for a Ten Kate box, or make do with the standard road box. Annoying as Tim said the close ratios kept the engine in the power nicely.
Next round is Lydden 20th & 21st April.
