ALEX GAULT
Alex Gault is a 12 year old boy from Carluke in Central Scotland. He first sat on a minibike in August 2000 and had his first race in September, finishing 8th. Since then he has managed to become
Scottish Winter Junior champion 2001 Scottish Summer Junior champion 2001 North of England Junior Champion 2001 Endurance champion with team ZPF 2001 ACU National Junior "B" Champion 2002 ACU National Production “A” Champion 2002
In 2001 a trip to Italy resulted in Alex being awarded the title of official British ZPF rider, by none other than Pier Franco Zanetti, owner and founder of the ZPF factory, and the man responsible for introducing “Valentino Rossi” to the sport of minimoto back in 1990. Zanetti is widely regarded as the creator of the most exclusive minimotos or "pocket bikes".
2003 sees Alex maintaining his links with ZPF as he contends the MMRA British championships in the Junior Supers class on the all new ZPF 203F. He will also compete in the Classic “Paul Godward” class on a vintage ZPF minibike that was built the same year he was born and indeed the same type raced by Rossi at the start of his career.
2003 also sees Alex make the move up to big bikes. With the help of E.P. Barrus and Metrakit, Alex will contend the Junior Racing Associations Formula 80 Championships on a Motorhispania RX 70. As this is his first year in this type of racing, there are no Championship aspirations, however developing this new type of bike, will hopefully help in his future racing career.
As you can see this year is going to be another exciting year for us. Alex would like to thank all of his supporters and sponsors for their help in making the adventure possible.
