End of Season
It has truly been fantastic for Alex, If you remember back to the start of the year he was going, to be racing the Super Class Minimoto, and the Motorhispania Rx, and I said at the time I would be happy with top three places as long as he was "out-riding" the bikes by the end of the year. He also wanted to race the Classic Minimoto, which I agreed to, with the proviso that he maintained the bike himself.
I am sure you all know the results, 2nd in British Minimoto Championship Open Junior Class. Champion in Classic class. Champion in the JRA National Championship. Darley Moor Formula 80 Club Champion.
Along with a rider being skilful and requiring the best equipment, he also needs to be lucky, and Alex certainly has, fantastic reliability from all his bikes has seen him finish every race that he started, apart form the one he fell off in.
Oh! and did I mention the One, where the engine fell out of the classic Minimoto (the one he maintained)!!! Remind him of that when you see him. (Snigger, snigger). All joking aside, a fantastic season and very proud of the mechanical skills Alex has picked up over the year.
Then, down to collecting the spoils, First off, the JRA Presentation, there is a report up on his web site www.minimotoracer.com suffice to say Great night held among great people, and Alex was presented his trophies by none other than, past JRA champion and World Super Bike Rider "James Toseland".
Alex also was presented with a surprise award as best newcomer.
He was then presented with the trophy again by another past JRA racer, "James Ellison", as part of a press promotion at the NEC Motorcycle show, where Alex and his bike were featured in the BARRUS exhibition.
Then on to the MMRA Bash, in Manchester where he picked up two championship trophies along with the coveted Paul Godward trophy.
Next Year?
Is all falling in to place? We are starting to receive provisional dates although as always, it is very hard to predict what will be happening, but there are plans afoot and things are looking very exciting.
Looks like some new sponsors are joining us, although unfortunately, we have lost a few old supporters, Icon, Close & Repli-cast UK, are not in a position to continue with help. However, we have already found a replacement for one and are ready to sign with another. More precise details when they are certain.
