Mark Castle - MAG Sport Racing 2006
BRITISH SUPERMONO CHAMPIONSHIP:
In 2005 Mark made a successful jump into the Water-cooled Class of the British Supermono Championship, riding the Rampisham Garage Yamaha XTZ 686.
He just missed out on a podium finish in the overall title race by 3 points due to missing two rounds at Castle Coombe.
Mark proved he could be a front-runner and staked his claim by being the first non mini-mono in the Class.
The race bike was a complete unknown at the start of the season and required some serious TLC, but continuous improvements made by Mark and the Bike’s owner Brian Wyles ensured the results got better and better.
For 2006 the tired old body kit has been dumped in favour of a later model TZ 250 fairing and any improvements, which can be made, will be. More importantly though is the totally new engine which has been built from scratch in order to give Mark the extra power needed to stay with the quicker bikes.
MANX GRAND PRIX:
Mark’s Real Road Racing exploits were put on hold in 2005 but he is back with a mission for the 2006 Manx GP.
In 2004 Mark improved his personal best speed on the S&S Tuning Yamaha R6 to 113.32mph from a standing start in the Junior race, but the real achievement was in the Ultralightweight race on his RVF 400 Honda when he led the race on laps 2 & 3 and eventually finished in third place on the podium.
Mark’s RVF is currently undergoing a serious makeover and Mark is training furiously in the Gym preparing for the event already!!
Mark’s long-standing sponsor Kev Spurr of S&S Tuning has recently set up his own business, KS Performance and fortunately for Mark is still able to assist with his racing in 2006.
As well as helping to build the RVF 400, Kev is organising an Injected model R6 for the Junior race.
