Glasgow Easter Egg Run - In Aid of Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill - Sunday 8th April
Issued 11th March 2007
It’s time again for the largest charity bike run in Scotland so, for those of you who want to take part, please meet in Kelvin Way at 12:00 noon for a 12:30pm start and bring along an Easter Egg for the kids in the hospitals and/or a donation.
The run will go from Kelvin Way to the hospitals at Yorkhill via a circular route and will take approximately 40 minutes. Riders of all types of motorbikes, scooters, mopeds and trikes and all levels of experience are welcome.
Kelvin Way will be turned into a one-way street on the day of the run so please make sure you head towards the University Avenue end to gain access.
See the DIRECTIONS page on our website for more details of how to get there.
Museum of Transport overspill
Due to the increased popularity of the run (~8,000 attendees last year) the Museum of Transport at the Kelvin Halls have offered their car park as an overspill for both Kelvin Way and Yorkhill. We will have marshals there to lead you to the main run when it starts and direct you to Yorkhill at the end (it’s a short walk between the two places).
Donations
All monetary donations will go to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation and we would encourage everyone to use GiftAid to increase the value of their donations.
GiftAid enables registered charities to claim an extra 28p from the Inland Revenue for each £1 donated to them.
Contact the address below for a copy of our donation form for anyone who would like to collect donations and it includes provision for those wishing to use GiftAid.
GiftAid can only be claimed by the charity for each individual on a form who includes their full address and postcode and who ticks the “giftaid it” box so it is important that the forms are handed in as well as the donation on the day.
Want some company on the way there?
Central Belt - Edinburgh MAG have arranged a meet at Harthill Services on the M8. The plan is to meet there from 10:45am and leave for Glasgow at 11:15am. For more details contact Edinburgh MAG (0131 557 7307).
If anyone else is arranging a meet and wants to invite others along let us know and we’ll post the details to this mailing list and on our website.
Other Events
Other clubs and individuals organise fund raising activities leading up to the run. There is a calendar of these events on the "Other Events" page of the Egg Run website.
If anyone else is holding a fund raising related to the Egg Run and wants to invite others along let us know and we’ll post the details to this mailing list and on our website.
Marshals
I'm sure you'll appreciate a run of this size requires plenty of marshals for it to run smoothly.
Are you willing to volunteer your services as a marshal? No previous experience is required, just the ability to follow instructions given by marshal team leaders and the ability to arrive before 10:00am.
Think you can do it? Want some more information? Contact us as detailed below
There are still some details to be confirmed in the coming weeks so stay tuned for more information and check our website at http://glasgoweggrun.mag-uk.org/.
