Parliamentary Motorcycle Group to Step Up a Gear
Issued 31st October 2008
The Parliamentary All Party Motorcycle Group (APG) has announced new moves to increase its representation in Parliament.
The APG has recently been restructured to become an ‘Associate Parliamentary Group’.
This will allow membership to be drawn from the expert motorcycling organisations which currently lobby Parliament on a range of road, off road and sporting issues.
Bill Wiggin MP, the APG chairman said: “Our aim is to provide a place for the motorcycle lobby to focus its representation, and help achieve coordinated lobbying and political advice which will assist both the motorcycle lobby and Parliamentarians.”
The newly structured APG will initially focus on key headline motorcycling issues, but aims to provide a longer term structure which will allow experts in specific motorcycling disciplines to focus on their key issues.
This will be done through a range of expert groups linked to the APG.
Wiggin further commented; “Currently, there are several different groups lobbying MPs and Peers on biking issues."
"We hope that the APG will act as a vehicle for the efforts of these groups and allow more coordination between the different elements of the motorcycle lobby.”
ENDS.
